Novelis Aluminium lightens up Frankfurt exhibition hall
Frankfurt exhibition hall 6 appears in a new design
The exhibition hall 6 was built in 1963 by the architect Martin Saeed. The 35,500 square meters space is located in the middle of the Frankfurt trade fair grounds and has four levels which are spread over a hall ground size of approximately 160m x 70m. The renovation was required due to technical fire legislation and the facade was clad with the Novelis pre-painted aluminum ff2®.

With its high-strength alloy and high-quality PVdF coating, Novelis ff2® pre-painted aluminum was the material of choice for this project. The key aspect for using Novelis pre-painted aluminum ff2 ® was the non-flammable fire rating A1 according to DIN EN 13501. Novelis ff2 ® is produced under strict environmental regulations and is 100% recyclable.
The pre-painted panels, with an ideal permissible load of 96 MPa according to DIN 4113 were formed as cassettes with clip fixing. This favourable construction method allows a cost efficient substructure as well as an easy installation with optimal economic efficiency. The facade was installed by Radabau GmbH located in Zwingenberg, Germany.

For the cladding of the façade, about 6,000m² of Novelis ff2 ® and 500 m² Novelis ff3 ® were used in the colours silber schmiedmetallic and matt-grey.
After the renovation the exhibition hall sparkles in a new splendour through the use of these different colour shades which were planned by “Kölling Architekten".
