Danish Office building in Sønderborg made from Novelis pre-painted aluminum
The renowned architect Frank Gehry was commissioned to design the concept for the reconstruction of the central harbor covering a area of over 50,000 square meters. The development forms part of the urban development of the Danish coastal region Sønderborg.
To meet with strict environmental demands and the concept to transform the area into a CO2-neutral city were the key challenges for Gehry.
As one of three new constructions, the office building "Kontor C" forms the starting point of the sustainable urban development. Due to the ecological concept Novelis pre-painted aluminum ff2 ® was used for the perforated aluminum façade. ff2 ® meets the sustainability needs because of its durability, recyclability and its’ high recycled content.
The facade of approximately 4,000 square meters perforated pre-painted aluminum ff2 ® cassettes in copper patina was installed by AE Stålmontage. The executive architectural office of Schmidt Hammer Lassen architects, Aarhus, sees its principles of optimized, innovative and sustainable architecture encapsulated in the building.
